Artificial Intellegence

Advanced technologies can be very beneficial to our society in light of the fact that it makes communication and education more easier and accessible to us. Technology boosts productivity and makes societies wealthier, but technological progress is eliminating the need for many types of jobs and leaving the typical worker worse off than before. The negative effects of developing technology would increase unemployment rate because of computers or any machine that are being developed with human-like skills that can actually perform human tasks with even greater efficiency than even humans themselves. There are jobs that have been already replaced by technology such as the job of a salesperson due to the fact that most entrepreneurs or businessmen would most likely create a business through social media with the help of technology. Nowadays, business minded people would easily earn profit just by creating an online shop through Instagram or Facebook which means they do not have the need to hire employees. In this case, this can be very beneficial to the business owners since they do not have to pay salary expense but it is also a disadvantage to the people who are willing to work as an employee in the business field. On the other hand, there are jobs that technology can never take over and one of these is the field of politics and law due to the fact that these are jobs with relatively-high skills which means that a person's knowledge and creativeness is a requirement for this kind of job.  The field of law requires abstract tasks that require problem-solving, intuition, persuasion and creativity. Computers will never overtake the realm of politics because being in charge of towns, cities, and countries will always need some sense of human discernment that computers will never be able to offer. A person would be needed for leading the country because their main concern is about the people while robots do not have any feelings and they do not have the communication skills to understand the society and its problems which can make them do inhumane things to the people of the nation. Robots are only programmed to do one task and once their plans fail, they do not know any other solutions while humans will try to solve it. If we keep on building and developing these devices to take care of everything for us, eventually they'll think faster than us and they'll get rid of the incapable people to run the country more efficiently. Technology may be very useful for us but we should be also thinking about the downside of it. In conclusion, computers can never replace human ingenuity. Our leaders are role models, leading by example and giving direction when necessary. A computer can only give information, but leaders can lend a hand, or an ear, and discern what's necessary for the country to succeed, and to want to succeed. Artificial intelligence has made great strides, but it is not artificial life, and it is a long, long way from creating life-like characteristics such as experience, values and judgements.
