Man vs. Technology

Many jobs these days are being replaced by technology. Because of that, many people are being fired because the factory have too much employees to operate the machine. In this article, I will give information as to why they shouldn’t use machines, rather hire more people to work for them.

An example of a job that is being replaced by technology is baking. While scanning my wall in Facebook, a friend of mine shared a video of a factory baking cakes. It was shown on the video how they bake the cake. They do the usual baking style but when it comes to the part where they put the icing on the cake, the machine covers the cake 10 times faster. In the video, it says that they make ten cakes per minute. While watching the video, I have observed that the machines were really fast and in making the design, they use a controller that looks like an iPad to create their desired design for the cake.  The process was really fast but, sometimes the icing is not properly topped.

Using technology in terms of baking have advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of using a machine in baking is that one, more cakes are made in one day. Two, your salary expense will lessen because you only give salary to the people operating the machine which is very few.  And three, you will not have a hard time in designing and decorating cakes. If there are advantages, there are also disadvantages. One is that sometimes, if something goes wrong with the machine, there is a possibility that the process of baking will be delayed. You will not only have a delayed delivery to branches, but you will spend money in fixing the machine and will not earn extra profit due to the machine. Second is that compared to baking cakes without using machines, sometimes it looks rushed and it can make it look messy. Third, they can’t make layered cakes or put three dimensional flowers in the cake using a fondant. Only bakers can make a detailed cake not a machine.

In contrast with machines, and example of a bakery with less machine is the Carlo’s bakeshop in the show Cake Boss in TLC channel. It has been running for several years already but many people still buy cakes and pastries from them because it’s delicious. They bake it without machines. The only machine they use is for flattening the fondant. They are also known because of the creative cakes they make especially when they make cakes that move. If people will use their bakery as an inspiration, I believe that aspiring bakers around the world will learn lots of baking strategies  from them rather than using automatic machines to do jobs that is meant for the people to do.

To wrap everything I have mentioned, I would rather eat a cake baked by a person rather than a technological machine because I know that they put their effort towards the cake and they have a talent in baking. They should also lessen their usage with the machine because it may help them in their work, but slowly they are adding pollution which destroys Mother Earth.

A Roller Coaster Ride

The cacophony of screams and revving engines coming from what feels like endless twists and turns of a roller coaster is utterly terrifying. Moreover, the conjuring thoughts that enter your brain, just watching the roller coaster ride, frightens you to an extent. This is why taking a ride in this monster is not for the faint of heart. But with my experiences, I learned how to drop my fears and muster enough courage to take a ride because life is indeed like riding a roller coaster; you will never know how it would have been if you never tried it.

I have already been a class officer since the first grade, and since then, I knew that I had a passion for leading. Because of my passion to lead, and the trust my fellow classmates have given me, I figured that it was time for me to take it up a notch, that is, to run for a higher position in school which would allow me to lead more people and to influence them in a higher degree. Running for the student council when I was in sixth grade ensued from this. Unfortunately, I was not given the opportunity to take this passion to lead a bigger crowd and influence them in a higher degree. Nonetheless, I did not lose hope.

Then I stepped into high school which was a completely different environment compared to grade school – different schedules, more complicated subjects, and the newly-implemented K-12 program, which was difficult adjusting to. This became an obstacle for me to run again for the student council because I was skeptical that I would be able to balance my duties and responsibilities of being a leader with my academics, which by the way, is my main priority. Two more years have passed and my dream of being a part of the student council is still pending.

In January this year, a familiar jingle played on the public announcement speaker, which officially marked the beginning of the search for the new SCT officers for the next school year. I knew that this was my chance to finally achieve my life-long dream. So, I chose to get an application form but just then, reality hit me, as well as my fears. And just then, fear won.

Thankfully, a window of opportunity opened: elections for the new GIFT Core officers. I couldn't miss out on this again so I grabbed the opportunity, ran for secretary, and was fortunate enough to win. Today, serving as a secretary, I have never felt more fulfilled. Knowing that I can do something for a lot of people is a feeling that could never be replaced. Doing something that I love also pushes me to work even harder, and aspire to do more and be more.

I am greater than my fears, which is why I shouldn't ever be afraid to do or accomplish something I really want. I should continue riding the roller coaster that is life. It is unpredictable, but I have to hold my head high because it will be a ride I should be prepared for.

Antibiotics: The scientific breakthrough of the twentieth century

The 100 years of the twentieth century is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable and momentous points in time. A wide variety and range of technological advancements, scientific explorations as well as inventions came to be. An important contribution of this glorious century is antibiotics. When it was introduced, it was deemed by the people as “the miracle of modern medicine”. This experimental breakthrough continues to enhance the essence of human life up to today.

Pathogens are microorganisms that can cause numerous diseases. Examples include bacteria and viruses. These could be found everywhere. Bacteria release toxins; viruses damage cells, making these harmful to a person’s body. Antibiotics, which are sub-categorized into groups of antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antiparasitic are medications taken. It exhausts or decelerates the growth and development of bacteria. As mentioned by the United States National Library of Medicine, these kinds of medical care could save lives.  An antibiotic is a chemical substance produced by one organism that is detrimental to another. It has been said that antibiotics are one of the most effective and powerful cures against fatal diseases hence; it has a substantial value in the present society.

In the year 1928, Sir Alexander Fleming, a Scottish scientist who had a reputation of being quite untidy and careless, was experimenting with the influenza virus in his laboratory located at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. Accordingly, he had left for vacation and after two weeks had returned to find that a mold had matured on an accidentally contaminated staphylococcus culture plate. This “accident” had led to the discovery of penicillin and influenced the further evolution of antibiotics for medicinal use.

During the World War II, Penicillin aided the people, lessening the number of deaths and amputations of the troops. Up to date, it is the most used antibiotic. It has several types which are used in the healing or prevention of many different bacterial infections which are usually caused by Gram-positive organisms.  Ampicillin, amoxicillin, and phenoxymethyl penicillin are constituents. In the midst of 1944 and 1972, Antibiotics could be given credit to, for the increase of human life expectancy. It was raised, given an additional eight years.

Pneumonia, an infection of the lungs caused by pathogens, which is generally distinguished by the inflammation of the alveoli in the lungs, caused a great distress during the period of 1930-1940. Once discerned as the “Captain of the Men of Death” by a Canadian physician named William Osler, pneumonia was pre-eminently the cause of death and required state supervision. However, this was before the establishment of antibiotics. Together with control programs and the availability of drugs, antibiotics were able to lessen the cases of the disease.

Antibiotics are very beneficial in the aspect of health. It does not only save lives but it offers an extensive barrier over disease. It outweighs all of the technological innovations of the twentieth century such as the radio, the television, the internet and many others. A life without antibiotics would be crucial due to the value of a person’s life.

Click

Relationships are built when people interact and feel close to each other. Whether you’re familiar with the people you talk with or not, creates a huge bond in between. With the help of our dearest friend named the Internet, anything is now possible. Access to multiple information, talking about what’s trending at the moment, being able to connect with people far away, sending mails for professional issues, and a lot of other things are now a click away.

An average person spends 27 hours a week in front of a computer using the Internet. As they all say, being in front of something that makes you do things all at once would really pique interest. And as for the usage of Internet, people wouldn’t even notice how long they’ve already spent playing staring games with their computer than actually interacting with their surroundings. Indeed everything has its pros and cons. Access is one weakness of almost every individual. The Internet can access gossip about the hottest celebrities’ embarrassing moments, or either access to an activation of a bomb, access to a person’s personal profile and access to people whom we really long to be with. But with these being at only an arm’s length, comes a greater responsibility. A lot of news nowadays have spread out about people engaging with dangerous scenarios because of other’s easy access on their personal life. Or worse, there are several news which state that these encounters actually lead to death. The Internet doesn’t have barriers. People can say whatever they want to say. But we can’t avoid some negative comments which are invalid to other’s feelings that apparently lead to bullying. Though others might not realize the impact they have by degrading an individual’s moral, people with the right knowledge should help raise awareness with what’s really happening to our world. Internet has now become a daily ritual for most humans. By doing so, we could actually create new relationships or repair rusted ones. Yet by also doing so, we isolate ourselves to the actual people around us. It’s all about balance. Balancing your time in front of something that doesn’t even talk and someone who actually tries to reach out, balancing the right words to say in order to dodge people feeling negatively about themselves, but most of all, balance with how you use the Internet. It’s actually pretty amazing how when we’re using the network, brings us to a different world where we can imagine and create our own stories. The Internet is our escape.

The ability to communicate, work, play and do business via the Internet breaks down our ties to local communities and causes us to become socially isolated. It is ironic that we seek companionship by using the Internet without even fully realizing that we are drifting away from other things. We must always be wise with using the Internet because we’d never know that our own opinions might clash with others and apparently ruin our ties with them. The easier the access, the bigger the responsibility. Clicking is as easy as moving our muscles in our hands and hovering over that send or like or comment button. But the content of whatever we’ll send could actually affect others life. Be considerate. The Internet is one of the greatest inventions and we must use it wisely. We must use it for a good cause and not for  destroying. The goof it accomplishes will actually vary on how we choose to use it. Click wisely!

Life as An Illusion

As one of the most favorite pastimes of the majority, televisions have been ubiquitous in this digital age. It has brought a significant impact on the society in various aspects starting with the lives of each individual. Surveys also reveal that the average person in the Western world spends 5-10 hours a day watching television. The aggrandizing excessive use of these televisions- however- has contributed to the negative scale, outweighing the positive aspects of these televisions.

As one of the major contributor of information, the television has been one of the most influential means of communication. It is where the majority of the society acquire information about the status quo and keep in touch with the current trends in the world. In addition to that, watching the television has been prevalently used for entertainment. It has been effective in entertaining its viewers as well as provide a sight to the outside world.

Behind these positive aspects, emerge the negative ones that has caused an immense influence in the society. The excessive use of televisions has resulted to a long period of inactivity that increased the possibility of health risks and other health problems. It promotes ineffectiveness and laziness in the workplace as most people tend to get distracted and watch the television in lieu of finishing the tasks first. This not only affects the individual, but also the society as a whole as each individual's labor contributes to the efficiency of the whole society. In addition to that, the information from these televisions are in a way inaccurate as they only show a small glimpse of what is really going on. The gist of the status quo is mostly seen, but not really the whole story as it make it less 'interesting'. People tend to get less interested to these current affairs and prefer other modes of entertainment. The majority gets a distorted view of reality as they continue to readily accept what these television feeds them without even casting a single doubt. This affects the whole society through the ignorance of the whole story in status quo that could cause misinterpretations and misguided decisions.

Moreover, the increase in violence has been linked to televisions. The American Psychological Association has concluded that "when children watch violence on TV they are less aware of the suffering of others, more fearful of the word they live in and more likely to harm the people around them. Children tend to replicate what they see and if they are frequently watching a person hit others, they may act this out in real life." This could increase the crime rate of the society and decrease their sense of security.

Another factor that should be considered is how the individual is too distracted in watching the television that it actually becomes a substitute for 'living'. In lieu of going outside and actively fulfilling his/her dreams, the individual encloses himself within four walls and just continue to watch these dreams being fulfilled through the television. This has become a common lifestyle for most individuals that it somehow increases the depression rate in the society as they continue to lose the true meaning of life.

The increasing negative effects of these televisions- proportional to their excessive use- has been very alarming that it is advised for the majority to have a paradigm shift before it's too late. It is important to prevent dependency on televisions as well as allowing them to completely become substitutes for 'living'. As the saying goes, "live passionately, not passively."

How the Internet has affected Modern Lifestyles

Many years ago no one could ever imagine that such a thing as the Internet would be invented. Nowadays, life without the Internet seems unimaginable. In my opinion, every invention has its time, and the Internet is the greatest invention of our time.

To begin with, the Internet provides huge amounts of information. Everyone can find all types of information with millions of topics. Also, people are able to find information on every subject they take interest in. However, accesses to so much information can sometime be dangerous. For example, one disadvantage is that children may get exposed to information that isn’t appropriate for their age.

Secondly, people are using the Internet for communication. Today, we can initiate real-time communication with someone who is half way across the world. People can participate in social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. These sites can help people keep in touch with their friends in distant places, or better yet, make new ones. Nevertheless, this way of communication can sometimes be ineffectual. Because Face-to-face conversations are better. Furthermore, a disadvantage is wasting a lot of time on the Internet. We can start surfing, and then realize far more time has passed than you realized.

Last but not least, the inventions of the internet could not be possible without earlier inventions and discoveries. First it was the discovery of the fire, then the invention of the wheel. Later it was electricity then the telegraph then the computer. With all these inventions, it slowly led to the invention of the Internet.

Consequently, there are tons of great inventions, every one of them is important. The internet, even with its flaws, is the most important inventions of (our) modern time.

Opening a New Present

Holistic education is very important in St. Paul College, Pasig that is why we have the Giftedness Instruction for Talent Development (GIFT) Program integrated into our curriculum. Therefore, extracurricular activities have become a part of life as a Paulinian. Today, from the time a girl enrolls in SPCP they get to experience GIFT which helps them hone and develop their skills and talents through the years. The duration of our stay in SPCP is the same duration we have experiencing the GIFT program. Some people may call this a hindrance or distraction from their academics but most people enjoy it. SPCP introduced the GIFT program as an anchor to develop the students’ talents. There are currently 8 centers which offer 32 different courses in the GIFT program. Students are free to choose their specific GIFT course that they will carry on for the rest of the school year and eventually the rest of their stay in SPCP.

The GIFT Program in SPCP started in 2006 which incidentally was when I was in Grade 1. I have been a student in SPCP since I was in Kinder 1, and this was another step to take moving up to grade school. When I was young, I remembered wanting to play the violin after seeing a little girl play the violin in a movie but my parents didn’t want to buy me a violin because was quite expensive and you would have to change it as you grow up. Before Grade 1, my mom asked me if I wanted to take chorale, dance or sports for my GIFT and since I wanted to do something musically related, I chose chorale. I never really sang at home and I was very shy about it but I ended up enjoying being in chorale and realized that I could sing. In Grade 2 we experienced what is known as "the exploratory stage" wherein we got to try the different GIFT courses. I didn’t really enjoy the other GIFT courses as much as I enjoyed chorale so when we given to chance to pick our GIFT again in Grade 3 I chose Chorale and to this day I am still chorale. I learned to be more confident in myself and in my talent. Being in varsity made me more responsible too, it constantly challenges me to manage my time when I get home after training. I learned to balance school and extracurricular activities. I get to interact with students of different batches and be exposed to different environments outside of school. And most alumnae say that they miss GIFT because they are not able to join college clubs due to their hectic schedule.

I really appreciate the effort SPCP is taking to give their students a chance to discover and develop their talents through the GIFT program. Not only has the GIFT program benefitted the students, but also the school, winning multiple awards for the school. I realized that I have grown up to be a better person because of this program. I get to be with people who have common appreciation and respect for music. This where I got to meet some of my best friends who I know I will cherish forever. I could not imagine SPCP without the GIFT program because it is now part of our life as a Paulinian.

It may not matter to all, but really, it does matter!!!

It is true that not all students benefit from extra-curricular activities held in school, but let us take into consideration of those who are concerned. Eliminating such events is like punishing them for no good reason. Some, maybe most of them join these groups because they are not able to compete academic wise, but their body smart. The board administration must look into this see the pros and cons of pursuing this movement. I suppose that the purpose of this movement is to make the students focus more on their studies rather than prioritizing other activities. But that being said, every school has a standard for students to join varsity teams and other clubs, group, activities, this actually helps them learn how to manage their time, which can help them in their future. It is up to the students to help themselves and know their priorities. Schools with holistic learning environment promote not only those mentally smart, but open to those with potentials not only academically.

For those who thinks academic are their main purpose in school, elimination of extra-curricular events does not affect their lives, whether they stop implementing these or not, either way it would not affect them and their studies. We may not realize this, but if such movement pushes through many students will lose opportunities in being able to do what they love, like those interested in sports. These activities also help the school administration in deciding the candidates for the honor roll, so why make lives harder by eliminating this program. Extra-curricular activities are used to exercise what the students learn in school, take quiz bee for example: whatever the students learned in a particular subject is putted into use. Some students use these events as a hobby, something to relieve their stress from the workload of school. The school should maintain the same system, and allow students to participate in such programs, but they must be able to keep up with the standard of keeping an average grade to continue participating in various groups/teams. It is what's being done the past years, and so far the students are able to comply to these standards.

Yes, all projects has its cons, but that didn't stop the implementation of such projects, the same treatment must be applied to the implementation of extra-curricular activities. Like all things, this program has its downfall, like pulling students out of classes, lesser time for school works, but let us not forget what good these brings to the students concerned. If you would look at this, the school is given recognition for the award gained by students competing off campus. These projects give the students the chance to take their learning and skill to good use. Not all of the student body will make a big deal out of this, it is not a matter that involves everyone, but that doesn't mean that this doesn't matter! It does matter, it matters to those who are gaining something out of these programs. So please do what you think is right, and hopefully, what is right is on our side.

The Art of Indoor Plumbing

Indoor Plumbing comes from the word indoor, which means it is situated inside a structure, and plumbing, a system of pipes which carries clean water inside the establishment and carries waste water out directly to the sewage. It is a system used to pump out water for various purposes. It has helped in accessing cold and hot water in order to live in comfort and to maintain hygiene. Though indoor plumbing is an essential component of modern civilization, it ironically defeats the purpose of it by polluting the environment through the dumping of waste in the sewage.

The Romans were one of the first civilizations to invent indoor plumbing. The Roman public baths, or known as the thermae, were used for hygienic and cultural purposes. A system of eleven aqueducts were used to transport water into Rome. They had a complex sewage system which was covered with stones similar to modern sewers. The system of indoor plumbing of the Romans eventually shaped modern plumbing.

Modern plumbing includes two sub systems which respectively bring clean water in and remove waste water. Pressure is exerted into the water to allow it to travel all over the structure. Before entering the pipes inside the house, it passes through a meter that registers the amount of water used.

The most important purpose of indoor plumbing is to prevent the spreading of diseases. Health risk events, such as the lack of plumbing in Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta which cause village diseases, have proved the fact that plumbing does majorly contribute to health benefit. Studies have shown that households without indoor plumbing have increased the rates of diseases three times higher than households with indoor plumbing. Households that lack water service make it more difficult for people to clean themselves, which makes the spread of bacteria easier.

Indoor plumbing is a big factor that makes people's lives convenient. It is easier to access water with just the lifting of the valve seat, or known as the faucet handle. It also brings comfort through the privacy of the household or more specifically privacy inside bathrooms. Before indoor plumbing, bathing was done through the carrying of water from the wells back and forth into the household. Since it was a long process, people bathed less.

Cold water is easily accessed from the main water supply. In order to receive hot water, an additional step must be applied. A pipe carries water to the water heater. From the heater, another pipe carries the heated water to fixtures that require it. A thermostat adjusts the temperature of the water through the device's utility which is connected to the valve of the water supply.

Though indoor plumbing is one of the most useful inventions made, it also serves as a factor for damaging the environment. Drainage systems must go through the process of Waste Water Treatment Plant before bringing the water to rivers and streams, but not many follow this, especially developing countries who cannot afford to create facilities and equipments to filter out all the sewage. Similar to oil, water will be a global crisis. As it is a fact that the world's population is increasing every second, the demand of clean water is also increasing but all the demand cannot be supplied, because sources of clean water are fast depleting due to partially lack of water recycling facilities.

MEDIA THE LEADING CAUSE OF VIOLENCE IN TODAYS SOCIETY

David Grossman said: "Today the data linking violence in the media to violence in society are superior to those linking cancer and tobacco". When we speak of media, we can say that it is the main means of mass communication (especially television, news paper and radio) regarded collectively. And if we define violence as per WHO, it is "the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person or against a group or community, which results in injury, death or psychological harm. Thus, some serious questions have been constantly and repeatedly asked by concerned sectors of our own society. Does media violence influence and promote violence behavior? Is media violence harmful? So, what's your catch?

Parents specially believe that violence is in many television shows and are dramatically worried about its effect to teenagers who are becoming violent themselves. The issue here now is wether or not media violence indeed influence especially the young minds to be violent? As far as my observation and a few readings on the issue is concerned, I would say YES! It's not only my opinion that dictates me to think so but I would rather mention a few results of studies done by some prominent people on how media violence  influence and promote violent behavior. A psychology professor at Ohio State University, Brad Bush man, testified before the home subcommittee on commerce  justice and science that "people who consume a lot of violence media come to view the world as a hostile place, where violence is "normal" behavior. Another one that is worth mentioning is the International Society in aggression- an organization comprising a world-wide body of scientist dedicated to the study of aggression and violence reported on 2012 that "the effects of violence content are learning effects in the brain....Media characters are attractive role models, especially of their violent actions on the screen are presented as justified and socially accepted. If the violent content is rewarded and seen as "fun", then aggression concepts will be classically conditioned with positive feelings. With these clear explanation, I myself is very much convinced that TV-violence influences the teenagers violent behavior. Sometimes, in some instance of my growing up years, I remember being violent too that which I thought was just a "playing time" with my sister. And I heard mom and dad saying "stop watching TV". Could that be the one? Well, mom will always give us comments like "during our time when media was not at hand, life was so peaceful", kids were busy with other activities and kids then were of good- natured and calm. And I believe her for that's the way she is so will you blame me if I agree that TV violence influences the teenagers' violent behavior especially those whose needs were provided and life is treating them well.

But then again, will complaining about it be enough? Do we just give our disagreement and bad feelings about the issue. Can we not think of other ways to divert the teenagers' attention and "scoop them out" not from TV viewing and make them busy on other healthy activities and make them more responsible? Perhaps, even working parents, can plan and provide other leisure activities that has no violence that teenagers need to be supervised. As this fast-pacing techie world where advance technologies are all around, teenagers can still find other ways to be able to grow up healthily in all aspects. Would it?

The Ever So Reliable Best Friend, Internet.

Unless you’re living under a rock, everyone knows well the so-called “internet”. This information technology is the driving force of today’s world and has a great influence in our world today because with the power of the internet, our daily tasks have been made much more easier and convenient. It is undeniable that some people today would not be able to stay sane without the internet. It is also related and tied to abundant of other world-changing inventions and success.

Just like everything else in this world, the internet came from somewhere; a humble beginning. A brief background is that the first prototype of the Internet was invented in the late 1960s with the creation of ARPANET, or the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. This network of computer-to-computer connections was intended for military and academic research. It had been developed and is still continuously growing. Currently, the internet is already utilized by a considerably large portion of the world. One of the talks that I had attended stated that more or less 70% of the internet users are online for around 8 or more hours each day. This would mean that a large portion of our time is being devoted to this invention.

Positively, internet had given a wide range of possibilities. It had remarkably contributed to the world of economics, business, science, entertainment, politics, education and likewise. Information is now easily and effectively shared to one another.

Another undeniable contribution of the internet is communication. During the early times, there were only limited ways on communicating and if you choose to send a letter, it could take days for it to arrive from the sender to the receiver. But with the technology present today, talking to someone is now more reliable and accessible. Communication had been greatly innovated and developed because of the internet. Currently, we have emails, text messages and different social medias that are accessible through technological devices.

Although, provided with these great benefits and functions, there are still a few negative aspects along this. Some experts had talked about internet being an “addiction”. This may be because of how other people could not stop from using the internet although they had been online for the rest of the day. They would say that internet may one day cause the disconnection of people to the world. Some people also worry that it could be the cause for losing the ability to personally communicate and also survive without internet if the need arises. And they would also state that it may result to people being socially isolated and disconnected to what is the real world from the virtual one. Misleading information are also one of what hinders the proper development of our information technologies.

But the problem isn’t the internet, but the people abusing it. Just like any invention, it is in our hands if we are to use it accordingly. An example is that cars were invented for efficiency and with good intentions yet there are people who use the invention for crime and dreadful purposes such as robberies and other criminal activities. The point is it would depend on us on how we use these inventions. All inventions could possibly be used for the wrong intentions and it’s up to each individual to be responsible users. It’s always essential to know limitations and proper uses of what there is in our world today.

A SPORTY LIFE LEADS US TO HEALTHY LIFE

Is having a sport really an important thing in our life? Of course there are some people who doesn't like sports because they think the games are boring, too complicated, and some reminds them about their childhood trauma. Having a sport is really important or lets just say that sport is partly like an exercise to keep us physically fit, and burn the excess calories. It also prevents us from getting too fat, getting diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It helps us to practice in making eyes, brain and muscles work together and makes us more self-organized and better disciplined. Playing sports can make you stronger and healthier, contributing to lower obesity rates. Athletic people tend to have lower rates of diabetes and high blood pressure. Jobs done by Hands not Technology

From a simple Technology it grows and improves more, while the people, hundreds nor thousands have already lost their jobs and being replaced with technology. Jobs would be harder to find due to how the technology has evolved and starts to takeover a business. At first everyone thought that technology is helpful somehow but it does not really help at all because people have gone really too far and clearly not really doing their jobs well, some just use it as an entertainment instead for a purpose of getting help and information about the job they are working on. There are jobs that are unlikely to be replaced by any kind of technology. Jobs that a human being can do that a technology cannot do.

As years and years has past, the present, is so called to be the technology generation, where in the people nowadays are more on technology, most jobs has already been taken over by technology, especially places like Japan for example, their workers are not just humans but also robots, Japan is known for its highly advanced inventions technologies, there are also disadvantages of these technologies because technology need power coming from windmills and more that produces electricity. There are jobs that are unlikely to be replaced and one of it is Lawyers, financial analysts and other creative knowledge workers. Creative knowledge workers, those who have to think creatively for a living are not going to be phased any time soon, either. Take Lawyers for instance, “Much of the core work involves value judgment. It is more than just logical reasoning based on evidence. “, Doing anything that involves consistently executing a rote task— is likely to be where robots are likely to excel. Jobs that do not need technology are the jobs that just need what a human being can that technologies cannot. Technologies has started to taken over millions or billions, using gadgets or any electronics that had that great impact on the people, most cannot even live without their phone, while the people whom are in the past mostly did not get to experience to have or to get any of the technology, there are still people here at present whom their jobs are completely not wanting to have any robotic devices or technologies, they want their workers to start getting up and do the hard work by hand, not by technology because the workers may become lazy during work time not doing their assigned jobs.

The present of today must start to have a better tomorrow, because people should not rely on technologies to do the work for them, while instead of people doing for the people, the society, and the whole community. The jobs of each person must be worked hard for than just sitting down on a chair and then getting high salaries, it is unfair for those people who have worked hard just to earn, just like some of the farmers in other places who have not yet have any of the technologies from the present, imagine how their life is, waking up early preparing and then taking care of their crops and then harvesting as they wait and while they are waiting they are mostly in their home doing chores and other works. Jobs should not always rely on technology for jobs are made to be done by human hands. Therefore a job is done through hard working and not by laziness. Jobs here in the present are most likely getting people lazy because of the technology such as the new inventions starting to replace the people on their own as being controlled by the inventor who is a human being also. As early as now people should really work hard by hand and not by any of these technology, because a work by hand has more quality of effort than technology that does the job effortlessly for the person who is called a worker.

Building Character

Some people believe that when a person is involved in a physical activity such as sports, it will help them grow, mature, experience and learn more life lessons. Sports are an important part of school life. Only people with no interests in sports would think that there is too much emphasis placed on it, which is not a bad thing because everyone has their own opinions and beliefs.

"Sports do not build character. They reveal it." Is a quote by Heywood Broun on how sports can help people become the better version of themselves. Sports teaches not just young adults but  older ones as well many valuable lessons that they may apply in their daily lives. Sometimes these lessons cannot be learned in school because it teaches morals and improves behavior to surroundings. Of course a student will encounter problems when he or she is part of a sports team, like balancing school and practice or training but nonetheless the student would not make this a hindrance from participating in extracurricular activities, particularly sports, if they will not be able to handle the stress and workload about to be given. There are many ways and tips on how a student can maintain good grades while working their ass off for a game, performance or competition. One of the many ways is staying organized all throughout the year- updating your calendar to remember your school activities, practices, and games or performances and make sure to manage your time wisely and avoid procrastinating. When given a free time or period, try to do and finish what you can to avoid workload at night and if you are lucky, you will have more time for sleep and rest. Professor Irvin said; "Sport allows you to develop a mentoring relationship with adults and with positive, school-oriented peers. They help socialize you into being more focused on school, and may help develop time-management skills, initiative and an ability to work with others." He also added, "Sport is often what brings a community together." Being part of a team sport also helps the student connect with his or her teammates. Most people would not understand that athletes get even more motivated to study partly because they know they are part of am extracurricular activity or sports team that requires good grades to be able to stay and participate in that team. In the book Sport in Society, sociologist Jay J. Coakley wrote: " Studies have shown consistently that when compared with students who do not play with varsity sports, high school athletes, as a group, generally have better grade point averages, more positive attitudes towards school, more interest in continuing their education after graduation, and a slightly better educational achievement rate." If you keep in touch with a sport, not only will it maintain the brain's activeness and healthiness but the body as well. Students should be exposed to various activities to help them determine what they are best at- what is sport without passion and love in what we do?

Sports should be part of school life because students may benefit a lot from being athletes. It teaches students cooperation, expression of feelings, leadership, and confidence. Students do not know what student-athletes feel whenever they train- excited, motivated, and inspired. Student-Athletes look forward to training because in training they improve and become the best they could be. Being a part of a sports team may also help the student become a scholar in honorable colleges and universities if they work hard enough and excel in both school and work. Sports should be a part of school life- not only to bring pride and honor to the school but to showcase the talents and abilities of the students.

Technologies aren't just all about our gadgets but almost everything we see inside our house and outside that made our lives easier. It helps people to do things efficiently. It can do things that a single person cannot do. Some believed that technology isn't really helpful at all. But come to think of it helped us in every possible way.

Dial telephones was introduced in 1919 and for you to be able to talk to the person you want to talk to, you have to actually dial it manually. Unlike what we have now, which are cellphones that with a single press you can actually call someone immediately, which is more  efficient. Then we also have iPads which are bigger version of our phones, we can use this in our jobs, our school etc. Like today, most of schools use iPads for better and advanced learnings. We have our laptops which are portable personal computer. The televisions are the one who helps us see the news and help us know what is happening in our surroundings, it also gives entertainment because we can actually watch movies. And then the radios, it may not let us see what is happening but it gives us knowledge what is happening in our surroundings through audio. Farmers use technology to make advances for them to be able to produce more food. Through the use of technology each farmer are reported that they are able to feed 155 people today, when one farmer can only feed 19 people. Many farmers today use technologies such a motorized equipment, modified housing for animals and biotechnology, which improves their agriculture. These technologies allowed farmers to feed more people and requires fewer people to worn on farms to feed their families. Technologies are also used for housing, like Bill Gate's house, it was designed using a Macintosh Computer. So there is this thing called Assistive technology which helps make life easier for a person who has a disability. In speech recognition technology it allows users to convert spoken words to text. Speech synthesizers, which are also called text reading systems, they are used to convert text to speech. One of the most known individuals who uses speech synthesizers is the physicist Stephen Hawking, he suffers from ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Advances in robotic technology make its possible to create prosthetics that can double the natural movement of human legs. This capability promise to improve the mobility of lower limb amputees, allowing them to through stairs successfully and slopes, significantly reducing the risk of falling.  Hearing aids are the ones who help deaf people to be able to hear something.

I bet there are more technology advances that helped us survive and made our lives more easier than we could imagine. The people now are thinking of improving and innovating these technology advances so it will be better when in use. They may have bad effects like for example when it turns to addiction when using our gadgets but it really depends on how it is used.

TV Violence to Child Influence

Television has a negative effect on teenagers because it promotes violence... This is True!  Teenagers nowadays watch television all throughout the day. They watch at all times without restrictions that differentiating the good and bad and which to and not to follow is a difficult task for them. The television is not a reality, but a make believe.

The television can be a powerful influence in the behavioral development, in growth and value formation. In my opinion, television can cause violence to children that results them to likely use aggressive strategies to solve their problems rather than search for more peaceful methods of conflict resolution. Children seeing too much violence at a young age are more likely to be argumentative as they grow up. In such a young age, this can expose them on what is really happening in our world. This can teach them that what they are seeing in the television is real and how things should be done. These effects can result to children being less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others, more fearful of the world around them and most likely to behave in an aggressive manner towards other children, as well as perform violent acts towards themselves. According to Brown (1984), "Children do imitate the behavior of models such as those portrayed in television, movies, etc. they do so because the ideas that are shown to them on television are more attractive to the viewer than those the viewer can think up himself." This influences us to believe all the fictional characters we watch seem to be doing a good behavior even though in the end, we know it's not. A classification board was created because of this overgrowing negative effects on its viewers. It's obligation is to safeguard the values and assist adults, parents, the viewers in general to decide what to watch or what to allow youngsters to watch. The board aims to be a vehicle for quality entertainment for young children and for adults to be more educated. It aims to build a culture that promotes human dignity. As a teenager, we always expect things to happen in a certain way, and when it doesn't happen the way we want it to be the world becomes bland and we result to violence. We create the violence our mind craves. We become rebellious when things do not go the way we want it to be.  We are the cause of violence. Now, television violence is a major problem in our society. We have a choice to find a solution on this or to ignore it completely.

Television violence does have an effect on teenagers in this generation with the way they think and act. Especially, since our generation is called the "I Generation" we are more expose to violence because technology plays an important role in our life. But, it can be possible for children to not be rebellious, argumentative and violent as they grow up. A parent should educate their kids at a young age and tell them that not all things we see on the television are all correct. The influence of television is a big factor on the psychological development of boys and girls. It is important that parents and guardians should provide guidance on age appropriate shows and should limit the number of hours teens spend time in watching. As a result, due to excessive and prolonged watching the world shown on television now becomes a reality. To avoid all this, parents should always talk to their kids and should know what kind of shows they are watching. Teenagers should know how to self regulate. They should talk to the parents if they have any questions on the characters, scenes, topics, etc on the shows they are watching. Television has a positive and negative effects. There are good shows and bad shows. There are real and make believe in what we are watching. We should know the difference!

Effects of Cellular Phones on the Society

Throughout the years, humans have been coming up with tons of inventions to make lives easier and make processes faster; they have been releasing tons of gadgets that are currently on the market that they claim will benefit people. But the question is, do they really? Some do and some don't, but it all comes down on how the person decides the use it. Cellular phones have been in the market for years; it has many advantages and disadvantages which makes it difficult to decide if this invention is mainly good or bad for the human population. There many factors to be considered in order to formulate a conclusion, and all these need to be carefully studied.

Cellular phones benefit people in numerous ways; it is a bridge way of communication for many who cannot see their loved ones face-to-face due to the many miles between them. It also gives people the opportunity to immediate communication wherein messages can be transmitted within seconds in the event of an emergency or important news that needs to be relayed right away through voice calls. Due to innovative technology, cellular phones can also provide access to the Internet using a Wireless Fidelity or 3G or LTE connection that gives people the chance to access the latest news around the globe and be aware of the issues that are currently occurring. Several mobile applications have also been released that allow users to book themselves a cab and even lead them to the best route to pass due to unexpected traffic. Now, people's mobile phones are not only for communicating but can also be used to monitor diet and health and provide entertainment and knowledge to users at the same time through educational games.  Although on the contrary, the invention of cellular phones also have a drawback on people. It causes constant interruption due to the notifications that are received from text messages, social media applications, calls, and even games. If the person is unable to control himself or herself, it becomes a problem as it hinders the person from getting anything important done. Even though having all important information on a cellular phone is very convenient, it makes a person prone to having a privacy leak due to the possibility that someone else can always access the cellular phone especially if it is not secured with a passcode. This is very dangerous if the user stores his or her credit card numbers, private text messages, passwords, email, and social media accounts in the device. Another disadvantage of having a cellular phone with many uses is that it causes distraction whether the person is in a meeting, in class, or even driving due to its non-stop ringing and alerts that could result in a drastic accident. Cellular phones also hinder people from real communication due to all the communication applications it offers; it takes away attention from the course of real interaction even though two or more people are already face to face with each other.

Given the advantages and disadvantages of cellular phones, it is concluded that it is still good for society; it all depends on how the people decide to use the said gadget and how they make it affect their daily lives and routine. Cellular phones were made to help people in their daily activities and provide convenience; it is out of the manufacturer's control how the consumer decides to use the product; whether in a way good or bad. Therefore, each and every person should be a responsible user of this gadget and put it to good use. Notifications can always be turned off and phones can always be put on silent to prevent distraction from their daily activities, but one of the biggest factors in preventing the disadvantages of cellular phones is discipline and controlling oneself on when and how to use the gadget.

Violence and Its Negative Effects

Violence is seen in various television shows. This is possibly one of the main reasons as to why teenagers behave badly, and why they behave violently. Television can be a huge influence to children and teenagers around the world, especially in developing their value systems, gaining respect, and instilling discipline.

According to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, there are several effects of watching television violence. Hundreds of studies of the effects of television violence prove that children or teenagers may become numb to the horror of violence. This means that they will not be able to realize that violence is wrong; they wouldn’t know how to determine right from wrong. They will also be able to accept and see that violence is a way to solve problems, imitate the violence that they observe, and they will be able to identify with certain characters. Extensive programing of television violence by children can greatly increase their aggressiveness. The impact of television violence may show immediately or several years later, according to the article. One way that this can be avoided is for the parents to play close attention to what their child watches on television. It is very crucial that they follow ratings, whether the show/film is PG (Parental Guidance), G (General), SPG (Strict Parental Guidance), etc. It is important that parents implement this strictly. Some ways that can be used to avoid watching television violence is that parents can pay close attention to what their children are watching, and if possible, watch some shows with them. These measures can also be used to avoid the children from the harmful effects of television, such as racial and sexual stereotyping. Children and teenagers still have a lot of knowledge to acquire. They learn from both experience social learning, or from what they see in their surroundings. Therefore, they will have difficulty in differentiating what is real and what isn’t, and they might tend to copy what they are seeing. Teenagers with behavioral problems tend to be more influenced by television violence. This is because they are the ones that have the most difficult time dealing with themselves, and also have difficulty in fathoming their feelings or thoughts. This can lead to really bad and unnecessary behavior that even they cannot control.

Television violence should be lessened, too. This way, lesser teenagers can be exposed to violence. This can be one solution to solve it; surely there would be another way to show entertainment without showing violence. Children and teenagers should be exposed to better shows or films. Since they are just young and their minds are still developing, they should be exposed to shows that can benefit them, shows that will improve their behavior in terms of discipline and respect. Now we can see why it is really hard for the youth to cope and deal with society, because most teenagers sometimes cannot even understand themselves. Teenagers get so much pressure from society, so it really gets difficult for them to deal with the pressure. This is why violence should not be shown in television; it brings so much bad effects to not only teenagers, but also some adults.
